As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic the Fair Work Commission moved to holding conferences and hearings online. This allowed our services to the Australian community to continue with minimal disruption. During this time, the Commission observed that there were both positive and negative aspects to hearings and conferences being held online.
As the world gradually returns to a ‘new normal’, the Commission is considering what approach we should take to online proceedings into the future.
The President has published a discussion paper on the future of online proceedings at the Commission.
We are seeking feedback to gain a better understanding of users' experiences with online hearings and conferences at the Commission. Based on the feedback we receive, we will create a draft framework to guide our use of online hearings and conferences in the future. We will release the draft framework for further consultation.
