When your entry permit expires, you must return it to us.

Expiry of Fair Work entry permits
A Fair Work entry permit expires:
- 3 years from its date of issue OR
- when you are no longer an official (an employee or office holder) for the union that applied for your permit, whichever is earlier.
You must return a Fair Work entry permit to us within 7 days of expiry.
There can be penalties if you do not return a permit.
Cancelled and suspended entry permits
You must return your entry permit if the Commission:
- suspends OR
- cancels OR
- put conditions on it.
Your entry permit must be returned to us within 7 days if this happens.
There can be penalties if you do not return a permit.
Expiry of WHS entry permits
A WHS entry permit expires:
- 3 years from its date of issue OR
- when your Fair Work entry permit expires or is revoked OR
- when you are no longer an office holder for the union that applied for your permit OR
- the union that applied for your permit is no longer registered under the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009, whichever is earlier.
You must return a WHS entry permit to us within 14 days of expiry.
There can be penalties if you do not return a permit.
Lost, stolen or damaged permits
If a permit is lost, stolen or damaged you should report this to us immediately, and provide details of the circumstances.
You will also need to apply for a new permit.
How to return an expired entry permit
You must return the original entry permit to us.
