What awards contain

Awards set out the minimum pay rates and conditions of employment, including:

• penalty rates, overtime and casual rates
• annual and other types of leave
• hours of work
• allowances.

To find out which award covers you, ask your employer. In general:

• If an enterprise agreement covers you, you are not covered by an award. Search agreements to find an agreement for your workplace.
• If an award covers you, your rates of pay and conditions are in the award. All modern awards are listed on the Find an award page. Not sure which award covers you? Find the right award on the Fair Work Ombudsman's website.

Some awards apply to specific enterprises, or public sector employers. See a full list of modern awards or find an award using our document search.
