The governing authority of the organisation is vested in the National Committee of Management, which consists of the National Officers and delegates from each branch. The organisation is also governed by a National Executive, and the branches are governed by a Branch Committee of Management and a Branch Executive. The Aviation Branch has a Committee in each state and territory.
Elections for National and Branch Officers are held every 3 and 4 years. Those elections are conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission.
