The right to disconnect protects employees who refuse to monitor, read or respond to contact or attempted contact outside their working hours, unless their refusal is unreasonable.
The right starts on 26 August 2024 for most employees. For employees of small businesses, it will start on 26 August 2025.
We have published information about the new right, including:
- a short animation about the right to disconnect
- a downloadable Fact Sheet about the right to disconnect.
